The Symposium on Animal Nutrition, Feed Additives and Healthy Feeding Was Held in Changsha

“The Symposium of Animal Nutrition, Feed Additives and Healthy Feeding” was held by Institute of Subtropical Agriculture (ISA), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in December 26, 2008. Over 70 scholars and deputies from feed enterprises attended this symposium. The symposium was hosted by ISA, CAS and Hunan Feed Industry Association.

The symposium was sponsored by Prof. Yulong Yin, from ISA, CAS. Mr. Long Ou-yang, the vice director of Hunan Feed Office, addressed and summarized the present situation and the developing trends of feed industry in Hunan province. He appealed the enterprises of feed, and livestock & poultry production to take a high degree of social responsibility, put an end to supplementation of harmful additives in the feed production, ensured the quality of feed, and livestock & poultry products. Prof. Malcolm Watford, the international famous animal nutrition expert from the Department of Nutrition, New Jersey University, delivered a lecture about the effect of functional amino acids on body protein synthesis. Prof. Malcolm systematically introduced the international research progresses of functional amino acids including Arginine, Leucine and Glumatine, elaborated the mechanism study of functional amino acids on the signal transduction in the protein synthesis process. Prof. Hua Xiong, from the Key Laboratory of Ministry of Education, Department of Food Science, Nanchang University, introduced the exploration of new energy feed (milk powder) and the feasibility of application in the feed industry.

After the symposium, Prof. Malcolm Watford visited the Key Laboratory of Agro-ecological Process of ISA. He highly evaluated the experimental equipments and scientific research level, and used “impressive” continuously to describe his feeling on the construction of the Laboratory.( 2008.11.28)
