Plant Biology Research Technician with Dr. Rocha’s Group at Institute of Subtropical Agriculture

A research technician post is available for a M.Sc. graduate to assist Dr. Rocha, a visiting foreign researcher (plant molecular biologist), at the Institute of Subtropical Agriculture, Chinese Academy of Sciences(ISA). He/she will assist various projects relating to hormone control of plant growth and to epigenetic mechanisms of gene silencing in plants.
Duties will involve the use of Molecular Biology and Genetic Engineering techniques (PCR, gene cloning, plasmid construction, etc.), Plant Transformation, Plant Tissue Culture, as well as caring for plants in growth rooms, and some administrative tasks.
• M.Sc. in Plant Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Genetic Engineering, Agronomy or a related subject;
• Work language is English;
• Being able to pay close attention to detail;
• Being pro-active, responsible, conscientious and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Conditions offered:
• 8 work hours/day×5 days/week;
• Salary depending on qualifications;
• Contract is for 1-year (with possible extension) subject to a 3-month probation period.
