"Functional Amino Acids and Carbohydrates in Animal Nutrition Symposium" Convened in Guangzhou by ISA, CAS

"Recent Advances in Functional Amino Acids and Carbohydrates for Animal Production" and Proceedings of the fourth International Symposium on Animal Nutrition Health and Feed Additive sponsored by CAS was convened successfully in Guangzhou on July 4-6, 2009. Wang Suiyuan (the vice director of the Chinese Feed Industry Association), Huang Ningsheng (the vice director of the Guangzhou Branch of CAS), and Li Wenxiang (the vice director of ISA) attended the conference. More than 1,000 experts, scholars and professional technical managers from over 20 countries and regions such as U.S., Canada, China, had joined in the academic conference.

At present, the functional feed additives, especially for functional amino acids have attracted more and more attention in animal production system. Moreover, animal healthy feeding and food safety have attracted more and more concern for the public in these years. In this symposium, the scientists discussed in-depth on 25 special issues around the theme of efficacy, nutrition, natural and health. Several reports have caused the conventioneers’ interests. For example, the topic on “Recent Advances in Swine Amino Acid Nutrition: Molecular and Functional Studies” presented by Dr. Wu Guoyao, the professor of Texas A&M University, USA, the topic on “Functional Feeds and Dietary Additives: Intestine Development and Health in Piglets" presented by Dr. Yin Yulong, the professor of ISA, and the topic on “Broiler Nutritional Requirements and Dynamic Growth Model” presented by Dr. Cai Huiyi, the professor of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. During the Symposium, Wang Suiyuan, the vice chairman, stressed that animal nutritionists and feed production enterprises must pay much more attention to animal product, which is related to the food safety of people’s daily life.
