On the 8th China-Japan-Korea Joint Symposium on Rumen held in Hokkaido University, Japan, Institute of Subtropical Agriculture, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ISA) won the bid to host the next symposium in 2013. ISA's successful bid for this international symposium owes to the recommendation of Japanese Society for Rumen Metabolism and Physiology, Korean Society of Rumen Functions Studies and Chinese Society of Animal Nutrition.

In the symposium, Prof. TAN Zhiliang of ISA chaired the first academic lecture and Dr. ZHOU Chuanshe delivered a report on “Regulation Function on Rumen Metabolism for Plants Extracts”. The Chinese Society of Animal Nutrition acceded to this symposium in 2005. At present, this Joint Symposium is held every two years. The successful application for the Joint Symposium will be beneficial to promote international communication and cooperation for the Center of Healthy Animal Husbandry in ISA.
