One ISA Student Awarded Excellent International Graduates of UCAS

Recently, Dr. MD ABUL KALAM AZAD, Institute of Subtropical Agriculture (ISA) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has been awarded Excellent International Graduates of UCAS.

AZAD, who started his PhD journey in ISA in 2016 with the support of TWAS-CAS President’s Fellowship.

During four years study in ISA, he joined in Professor YIN Yulong’s research group, focused his research on animal nutrition and animal physiology and received a doctor’s degree in Ecology this year.

“I met so many good people around me, who are really very kind and helpful. Actually, they helped me to carry out my scientific research in animal nutrition and metabolism. They inspired me by their hardworking and passionate attitude. During my PhD study, I have gained some core experience in the field of digestive physiology, immunology, molecular microbiology, metabolomics, and so on.” said AZAD.

“His research outputs have been published in some core scientific journals including, Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, Food & Function, Frontiers in Physiology, Amino Acids, BioMed Research International, and Current Pharmaceutical Design. The sum of his published articles impact factor (IF) is more than 30. Furthermore, his published articles are cited more than 300 times, including with 6 h-index, and 6 i10-index.” praised by his tutor, Professor Yin.

It is understood that only 30 international students got this honor.

Now Azad has been awarded prestigious CAS-President’s International Fellowship Initiative (PIFI)-2020 for postdoctoral research at the ISA. During his postdoctoral period, he will continue to contribute his excellency in the field of animal nutrition and animal physiology. As a young scholar, his future goal is to build a career in academia and contributes in the scientific world.
