XIAO Chaowu Visits ISA

  Biomedical Postdoctoral Researcher XIAO Chaowu, the researcher of Molecular Nutrition Room of Nutrition Board of the Canadian Food Department of the Ministry of Health, Joint Professor of the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine of the University of Ottawa, Doctoral and post-doctoral mentor, was invited to visit the Institute of Subtropical Agriculture, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ISA) on February 20.
  He delivered an academic report entitled “The effects of protein and bioactive substances on lipid metabolism and gene expression”, hosted by professor TAN Zhiliang, the deputy director of ISA.
XIAO made a system and in-depth exposition on biologically active substances, mainly lipid-lowering function of soy isoflavones and its mechanism in a mouse model, laid the theoretical foundation for the development of human functional foods. He also briefly describes scientific ideas and technical means of the combination of the traditional nutrition research and modern molecular nutrition research, which benefited young researchers
  Participants also conducted an extensive and lively discussion and exchange on the impact of soy isoflavones on reproductive physiology of miniature pigs.
