Taoyuan Station of Agro-ecosystem Research, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (TYSAR), founded in June of 1978, is a national key station for field scientific observation and research approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST). It is one of the basic stations of the Chinese Ecosystem Research Network (CERN) organized by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and a member of the Global Terrestrial Observing System (GTOS) under FAO. The station is also a provincial base for the academic activities of teenagers. Administratively subordinated to the Institute of Subtropical Agriculture (ISA), CAS, TYSAR is an important base to conduct position monitoring of agro-ecosystems, research and demonstration of optimum modes of efficient utilization of resources and sustainable development of agriculture.

TYSAR has been present on the internet since December 2006, home page, and in January 2007, a new website( built for the publishing and sharing of data information. As of May 2009, about 500 Mb of online data information are available at this site, representing  20% of its whole data resources.

Data resources of TYSAR include the accumulation of data for the following three categories:

(1) Dynamic long-term monitoring database (CERN):

  Water environment monitoring, years 1998-2008, including 11 data sets;

  Soil environment monitoring, years 1998-2008, including 10 data sets;

  Atmospheric environment monitoring, years 1998-2008, including 73 data sets;

  Biological environment monitoring, years 1998-2008, including 15 data sets.

This data is made publicly available on the internet. The website provides data services such as inquiries and online application.

(2) Long-term research database, constituted by 5 long-term experiments:

  Long-term experiment for fertilizer management on paddy field, years 1990-2008;

  Long-term nutrient cycling experiment on paddy field, years 1994-2008;

  Long-term experiment for the succession of ecosystems in the red-earth hilly region, years 1995-2008;

  Long-term experiment of water management on paddy field, years 1989-2008;

  Long-term experiment studies on the sustainability of soil fertility on dry land, years 2005-2008.

This part of data mainly relates to the long or short-term changes of biological,soil,water and meteorological factors; Limited sharing.

(3) Regional ecological databases: constituted by other specialized research-based data; Limited sharing.
