Dr. Zhu graduated from Peking University in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in Biology. In 2006-2009, he did his master study in Molecular Microbiology at the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 2014, he obtained his Ph.D in Environmental Microbiology from Radboud University Nijmegen, the Netherlands. Afterward, he did his postdoctoral research at German Research Center for Environmental Health, Munich; and then worked at Bayreuth University and Zurich University. In 2021, he moved back to China. His current research focuses on agroecological microbiology, especially on agricultural GHG metabolism, microbial C, N, P cycles and their interactions, and the microbiology and ecology of the novel N transforming process: oxygenic denitrification. In recent years, he published over 20 publications at international journals, including PNAS and AEM.
