During March 26th, 2009, Professor Kōzō Iwasaki, Deputy Minister of Science, Faculty of Agriculture of Kochi University of Japan, was invited to the Institute of Subtropical Agriculture, Chinese Academy of Sciences to carry out academic exchanges and visits.

During the visit, professor Iwasaki made an academic presentation entitled "the possibility on farmland Cd pollution and its bioremediation ", described in detail the status of the farmland soil Cd pollution in Japan and its effects on environment and human health, the molecular mechanisms of plant hyperaccumulator Cd, as well as the bioremediation possibilities of the pollution. Subsequently, he participated in the seminar held by researchers of soil nutrient group, and had thorough exchange of views on both sides research interests the future cooperation fields with the research staff and graduate students. Finally professor Iwasaki visited the Key Laboratory for Agro-ecological Processes in Subtropical Region, ISA, CAS.
