Recently, new early hybrid rice combinations with the herbicide-resistant gene, namely "Xiang 125S/Bar68-1", "Zhu 1S/Bar68 -1" and "Zhu 1S/Bar68-2 ", were investigated and appraised on site by the experts from the Center of China National Hybrid Rice Research and Development, Institute of Crop Sciences of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology of CAS, Bureau of Science and Technology for Resources and Environment of CAS, as well as Hunan Province Agricultural Department. These combinations were developed by the research group leaded by Professor Xiao Guoying of the Research Center of Molecular Ecology and Crop Breeding of ISA. Li Wenxiang, the vice-director of ISA, accompanied the experts to join the on site investigation.

After the investigation and introduction of relevant researchers, the experts, including Academician YUAN Long-ping, spoke highly of the three combinations, and they completely agreed with that the field trials were standardized and field performances were uniform. These new combinations are Medium-maturing Early Hybrid Rice, and can increase the productivity by over 10%. Experts also recommended that the research on safety evaluation and industrialization should be strengthened.
