History

The Institute of Subtropical Agriculture (ISA) is one of the institutions in the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). The Institute was originally established in 1978, as the former Changsha Institute of Agricultural Modernization; it was reformed in 2002 within the frame of CAS Knowledge Innovation Program. ISA has been established in Changsha city, an ancient and historical city in Hunan Province of China. It currently hosts 126 staff, with 17 professors and 33 associate professors. For over 30 years, ISA has developed advanced research areas that cover the agricultural sustainable development, the processes of agro-eco-systems and their management and manipulation, and the integrated system of livestock farming and crop production in the subtropical region of China.
