Resume
     Zhiliang Tan is a Professor, Institute Faculty Fellow in the Research Center of Animal Healthy Feeding. Presently, he is the director of Institute and the member of Academic Committee and Degree Committee for Graduate. He also is the pluralistic professor of The Graduate University of CAS, Huazhong Agricultural University, Northwest A&F University, and Hunan Agricultural University.

He earned his bachelor's degree in animal science from Huazhong Agricultural University in Wuhan, China, and a master's degree and doctorate in animal nutrition from Inner Mongolian Agricultural University in Huhhot, China. He received the higher research training in ruminant nutrition at the University of Illinois, in Urbana-Champaign, USA.

Dr. Tan teaches graduate courses in protein metabolism and nutritional evaluation of roughage. He conducts research in protein and amino acid metabolism at molecular, cellular, and whole body levels, and in the quality improvement and utilization of roughages. The animal models used in his research include cattle, sheep, goat and dairy cow.

Dr. Tan has received several prestigious awards from China. He received a Second Award of Science and Technology Progress from CAS in 1994, a Third Award of Science and Technology Progress from CAS in 1996, and a Second National Award of Science and Technology Progress from CAS in 2008. Dr. Tan is honored in "Outstanding Contribution of China State Department” and "The Agricultural Award for Young Scientists of Hunan Province”.

Professional memberships include the Chinese Society of Animal Nutrition, the China Society for Livestock Ecology, and the American Society of Animal Sciences/Dairy Sciences. Dr. Tan currently serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Animal Nutrition (China) and on the Editorial Board of Agricultural Modernization Research Journal (China), and is invited as a reviewer for three international Journals, including Animal, Meat Science, Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture.

    Being undertaken scientific projects:At present, several projects have been conducted by the group leaded by Prof. Zhiliang Tan, including the Support Program “Research and Demonstration of Key Technologies for Dairy Industry”, the International Cooperation Program between China and Australia “Reducing the risk of chronic diseases by manipulating the redox status and lipid peroxidation”, and the Knowledge Innovation Program “Key Technologies of Modern Animal Healthy Feeding and Eco-economic Circulation Model of Animal Husbandry & Agriculture” et al.
