2011 Annual Conference of Ecological Society of China Held in Changsha.

Over 900 researchers and students descended in Changsha to attend the 2011 Annual Conference of Ecological Society of China (ESC) on 21-24 October.

Hosted by the Ecological Society of China (ESC), and organized by the Institute of Subtropical Agriculture, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ISA), the 2011 Annual Conference of ESC is a high-level communication among scientists for their research interests in ecology.

The major theme of this annual conference is ecological science innovation and harmonious development promotion.

Consisting of 8 invited speeches and 343 oral presentations, the conference covered the 

 
topics of global climatic changes, low carbon eco-city planning and construction, ecological value assessment and ecological capital calculation, ecosystem processes based on flux observation, eco-hydrological processes on new drainage basin, management of subtropical ecosystem: processes and manipulation, forest and climate change, animal physiology and behavior adaptation, etc. 

To encourage young researchers, a special ecological forum on the legislation of natural ecological protection was sponsored by the secretariat of ESC and some hot issues about ecological service maintenance were warmly discussed in this conference.

As the most renowned and influential conference in the field of ecology in China, the 2011 Annual Conference of ESC witnesses the most attendees and the largest and widest range of topics for discussion. The conference represents the highest academic level of Chinese ecology, and is an important platform to promote the development of frontier domains in ecology.

The success of the 2011 Annual Conference of ESC not only boosts the communication and cooperation among researchers from different institutions, but also broadens the horizons of ecological scientists in China.
