  Intensive Multiple Nutrient Elements Input Results in Negative Priming Effect of Organic Matter in Paddy Soil

  The research team of the ISA used NH₄Cl, KH₂PO₄, and Ca₂SO₄·2H₂O as exogenous nutrient elements (N, P, K, Ca, and S) to figure out the features of organic carbon mineralization and its PE in flooded paddy soil under high and low nutrient concentration.

  Differential Soil Microbial Processes and Resource Limitation Found in Karst and Non-karst Forests

  Researchers in the ISA investigated two major microbial processes (i.e., the rates of decomposition and respiration) and the microbial resource limitation in a typical karst forest using eco-enzymatic stoichiometry as an indicator. A non-karst forest was also investigated as a comparison.

  The researchers found that the NAPI values varied dynamically (318–924 kg P km^-2 yr^-1 in 1980 to 865–3601 kg P km^-2 yr^-1 in 2010) at the county scale in the Chinese subtropical region, in which the P fertilizer application was the largest source, accounting for 36.1–74.6%.
