Non-essential Amino Acids: Don't Ignore Them!Researchers in Prof. YIN Yulong’s group from the Institute of Subtropical Agriculture, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ISA) have spent many years in this field and found that NEAA (i.e. arginine, glutamate, glutamine, aspartate, cysteine, and glycine) play important roles in regulating gene expression, cell signaling pathways, digestion and absorption of dietary nutrients, antioxidative responses, and immunity. Meanwhile, emerging evidence indicates dietary essentiality of "nutritionally non-essential amino acids" for animals and humans to achieve their full genetic potential for growth, development, reproduction, lactation, and resistance to metabolic and infectious diseases.Sep 28, 2015

Why Rhabdolaimus dominates the nematode communities in karst mountain peaks in southwest China?Researchers from the Institute of Subtropical Agriculture, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ISA) determined the composition of soil nematode communities along a vegetation succession sere on karst mountain peaks in the wet and dry seasons, at karst Huanjiang Observation Research Station for Karst Ecosystems in Guangxi. They divided four common plant communities into moss crust, moss crust with sparse grasses, sparse grasses and sparse dwarf shrubs.Sep 18, 2015

Which Factor Controls Accumulation of Soil Organic Carbon in Karst Region?Sciences (ISA) believes understanding the relationships between soil organic carbon (SOC) and soil biotic and abiotic characteristics in different vegetation types is essential for carbon management. They guessed soil carbon sequestration may be affected by different factors in different vegetation types. Therefore, it is essential to identify the main drivers that control soil carbon sequestration to achieve effective soil carbon management at the regional or global scale.Sep 08, 2015

A Potential Target Gene-pEnho Relates to Pork QualityA study conducted by Prof. YIN Yulong from Institute of Subtropical Agriculture, Chinese Academy of Sciences has uncovered the information of Enho in piglet. This research can enrich the knowledge about glucose and lipid metabolism in piglet, and promote the health and growth of piglet through adropin regulation, which finally improves the pork meat quality.Aug 24, 2015

The Three Gorges Dam Affects Eco-hydrological Environment and Vegetation Distribution of East Dongting LakeDongting Lake , the second largest freshwater lake in China , located at the south bank of the middle reach of the Yangtze River . In recent years , freshwater lakes have been considerably modified and degraded by human activities .Dongting Lake is no exception .The Three Gorges Dam ( TGD ) is a hydroelectric dam that spans the Yangtze River , whose implementation more or less affects eco-hydrological environment and vegetation distribution of East Dongting Lake .Details can be found at : http : / / onlinelibrary . wiley . com/doi / 10.1002 / eco . 1543 / abstract.Aug 21, 2015
